Electric powered water heaters were possibly the first to be developed and used. As a system it is extremely primitive, and yet there continues to be very little advancement within its design since the inception. An electric water heater is only a huge tank of water which has a coil that is put inside. This coil is linked to your current supply to ensure that when you turn that on, the coil gets heated and therefore heats the water.
Obviously the heater has to be insulated, and for two causes. One is that any time electricity is passed with the coil it also passes with the water, which means that unless the outside the tank is insulated anybody who touches it will get a shock. The second is wise practice, if you don't insulate it the warmth will dissipate quickly meaning the heater has being on longer. Result; higher power bills.

Customer Reviews
I installed a gas instant heater on an outside wall, was not able to install it in a central location. Therefore it took a while to get hot water to the faucet. I installed the 6gal electric heater in series with this heater at a central location. This curied the problem. The total cost was still below what most heaters would cost. I am very pleased and feel this is the way to go. I feel I should see savings in my power bill, time will tell. Another benifit is never running out of hot water. This way I only have to maintain 6 gal of hot water instead of 40 gal. Great product.
